“Banned Books Week (BBW) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment” (www.ala.org). It is usually held during the last week of September and draws attention to censorship by highlighting banned books or attempted bannings of books in the United States. Click on the following link for a list of frequently challenged books: http://www.ala.org/bbooks/frequentlychallengedbooks.
This year’s theme is “Missing: Find a Banned Book.” Celebrate Banned Books Week at the Park City Library from September 21 to September 27 by checking out a banned book and picking up a bookmark. For more information about Banned Books Week, visit http://www.ala.org/advocacy/banned/bannedbooksweek.
