One Book, One Community 2014

One Book, One Community is a community reading program where the goal is to have as many people as possible read and discuss the same book. Park City Library, Summit County Library, and Dolly’s Bookstore are partnering to bring a unique story to the people of Summit County.

Second Suns is an inspiring story of two very different doctors-one from the United States, the other from Nepal-united in a common mission: to rid the world of preventable blindness. In this transporting book, late author David Oliver Relin shines a light on the work of Geoffrey Tabin and Sanduk Ruit, gifted ophthalmologists who have dedicated their lives to restoring sight to some of the world’s most isolated, impoverished people through the Himalayan Cataract Project, an organization they founded in 1995.

Dolly’s Bookstore, in a partnership with Park City Library and Summit County Library, is pleased to welcome Dr. Geoffrey Tabin – one of the two doctors featured in the book – to a speaking event to cap the summer of reading on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Sheldon Richins Building Auditorium (at the Summit County Library) at 7:00 PM.
