Not only does this book show the importance of community and highlights the interrelationships between members of the community, it also does a great job at bending gender roles! Great multicultural book. Easy to read, kids love the art.
I never thought I would enjoy a Jodi Picoult novel, but this one proved me wrong. Narrated by three characters, this novel is fast paced. The white supremacy is infuriating and it is hard to read from one of the character’s points of view – but Picoult succeeded in making the reader feel such rage and uneasiness with him. If you have read Lilac Girls, this book is similarly structured – or if you like this novel – read Lilac Girls next!
