Sierra Wilson's review of this book nailed it. Willow Chance is a 12 year old genius who is obsessed with the number 7, plants, and diagnosing medical conditions of those she meets. After her parents are killed in a car accident her comfort level is shattered and she forms bonds with the most unlikely characters. However, like "Willows beloved plants ,these are people putting down new roots and rising towards the sun." An excellent read for all ages.

War of the whales : a true story Book Cover

This book reads like fiction, but is the true tale of the struggle between the marine ecosystem and the US Navy. Perplexed by continuous mass-strandings of whales, a marine biologist searches for the cause. What he finds turns out to be a much bigger battle than he ever anticipated. This thrilling book tells the story of the fight to protect these gentle giants, and the difficulties faced when the primary foe is the US Armed Forces.
