Live PC Give PC is a one-day event that encourages the greater Park City community to contribute to local nonprofit organizations through a single online giving platform on the first Friday of November. This giving day is coordinated by Park City Community Foundation in partnership with area nonprofits and brings in millions each year. LivePC Give PC is on November 3rd this year.
We kindly ask the Park City community to consider donating to the Friends of the Park City Library, a non-profit volunteer group dedicated to supporting the Library. They help fund the Library’s rich offerings throughout the year for the Park City community to enjoy.
The Library can’t say enough about how supporting the Friends of the Library are to the needs of the Library. When advocating for fundraising, we commonly hear the Friends say that they do this for the Park City community to have a library that is full of resources, amazing books (physical and ebooks), engaging events, and all in a beautiful building.
The Friends of the Library rely on our community to raise funds throughout the year through used book sales, membership dues, and events such as these.
In the past year, the Friends of the Library have been able to fund these amazing amenities, services, and events thanks to our Park City community donors:
- A makeover of the teen area, which included a restaurant-style booth that is often in use, and reupholstering for the well-used youth area furniture
- Supplies to create the annual Halloween haunted house and tea parties, which we now hold every year
- Local Speaker Series, which features local Parkites
- Mindfulness Mondays, where children learn fun mindfulness activities
- Diversity Audit, to examine our collections, amenities, and programs to ensure we represent our diverse community as well as a broad range of perspectives
- Art receptions to celebrate our local artists during their exhibits
- One Book One Community funding for the author visiting
- Funds to support book purchasing for general ebook purchasing and the Spanish and Graphic Novel collections
- Patio furniture and flowers to create the patio into a welcoming and enjoyable space
This last year, the Friends of the Library began supporting One Book One Community. Thanks to the Friends we were able to bring Heather Hansman, author of Powder Days: Ski Bums, Ski Towns, and the Future of Chasing Snow. Because of their support, we were able to pay for the author’s visit fee and the Library could fund supplemental events and purchase books for the community to read.
