Meet and listen to Edward Power, author of Dragons in the Snow: Avalanche Detectives and the Race to Beat Death in the Mountains, and Craig Gordon, Utah Avalanche Center forecaster, discuss dramatic stories of accidents, rescues, and avalanche deaths in the mountains of North America and Europe. This book won the 2020 National Outdoor Book Award Winner for Outdoor Literature.
Book synopsis: Journalist Edward Power’s book opens with the 2017 blizzard in the Uintas that brought on the direst avalanche forecast. The book explores perspectives from people caught in avalanches, avalanche forecasting and equipment, avalanche dogs, and how climate change affects winter sports.
