BioBlitz
April 29, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Event Details
Meet up with Swaner naturalists at Park City Library to participate in the City Nature Challenge. Learn how to use the app iNaturalist and about the importance of citizen science! Swaner will have iPads, field guides, and naturalist packs at the Park City Library to use during the event.
This is a BioBlitz event, which is a communal citizen-science effort to record as many species within a designated location and time period as possible.
Bioblitzes are great ways to engage the public to connect to their environment while generating useful data for science and conservation. They are also an excuse for naturalists, scientists, and curious members of the public to meet in person in the great outdoors and are alot of fun!
More about iNaturalist:
iNaturalist is one of the world’s most popular nature apps that helps you identify the plants and animals around you. Get connected with a community of over a million scientists and naturalists who can help you learn more about nature! What’s more, by recording and sharing your observations, you’ll create research quality data for scientists working to better understand and protect nature. iNaturalist is a joint initiative by the California Academy of Sciences and the National Geographic Society.
