Local Speaker Series: Fuzzy Furr’s FDR and Churchill – Men of Friendships and Secrets
March 12 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Event Details
Fuzzy Furr returns to the Local Speaker Series with his lecture “FDR and Churchill – Men of Friendships and Secrets.”
It is certainly known that Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill established one of the most unique relationships ever. However, in that relationship were also some well-guarded positions and nationalist goals.
The jacket of David Stafford’s book Roosevelt and Churchill says, “At the heart of this special relationship, hidden by layers of secrecy, was an extraordinary and far-reaching…. sharing of intelligence and a fascination of clandestine operations.”
Frank “Fuzzy” Furr will provide a pathway through this relationship, highlighting how these two men established an alliance that was the foundation of the war effort that defeated Hitler’s quest to purify the “Aryan” race and the German military might.
Frank “Fuzzy” Furr is a retired US Air Force Colonel who resides in Park City, Utah with his wife Lani. He is part of the faculty of OSHER Lifetime Learning Institute at the University of Utah. Frank served over 27 years in various operational, senior staff and leadership positions in the Air Force, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Defense Intelligence Agency, and Office of the Secretary of Defense. Upon his retirement from the USAF in 1992, he accepted a position in a high technology aerospace/defense company and became Vice President, Programs, for L-3 Communication System West (CSW). In this position, he directed various secure communication programs with emphasis on providing real-time actionable intelligence to war fighters, our national command authorities, and intelligence agencies. He retired from L-3 CSW in 2008. Frank is a Rotarian and a certified International Jury Official for Bobsled and Skeleton activities.
