Park City Library has a three-year strategic plan that focuses on user experience, inclusivity, community relationships, and lifelong learning. The library has defined a Community Relationship as reaching beyond library walls to better understand and serve the public. The goal for this year is to issue library cards to every Park City School District student.
Creating Lifelong Library Users
Park City Library strives to make the youth of our community lifelong library users. By providing all students in the area with library cards, we are providing them with access to resources that can help them throughout their educational careers.
Partnering with Park City School District
Starting March 1st, Park City School District will provide a link on their student registration process that will allow all students to get a library card. Library staff will process cards for students to pick up in the library over the summer or they will be delivered to the schools when students start in the fall.
New Library Card
The Library worked with a renowned local children’s author and illustrator Robert Neubecker to design new library cards with a wintry illustration of the Park City Library on them. Each student will receive this new library card when they register. Rober Newbecker also designed a wrap for the Library’s new self-checkout machine in the children’s area with a similar design on it. Â
Internal Work
This goal was lofty as it required a significant amount of internal work. Library staff updated policies, worked with vendors to update the library card registration form, and created an organized internal process to provide the school district with an organized delivery of library cards organized by school and class. This year the Library plans to issue a significant amount of library cards to students; new library cards have been ordered to meet this demand.
